ECCO Revolutionizes the Performance Running Market.

The Danish business ECCO breaks new ground: In March 2009 the world leader of innovative comfort shoes, presented the completely new running shoe concept BIOM. It is based on a "Natural Motion" philosophy that allows the foot to move naturally the way nature intended it to. BIOM has taken the perfection of nature into consideration: that the human locomotion system has been developing for over thousands of thousands of years and only needs limited support. This is why BIOM does not have excessive cushioning or movement control. Thanks to the new concept the foot is free to move and therefore builds muscle and strength for optimal performance. BIOM is available in an A and B version and in 2010 also in an C and BIOM Walk version.

The BIOM Project: Rethinking the Running Shoe Market

BIOM is not just a shoe - it is a paradigm shift. The BIOM concept is based on the principles of Biomechanics and the philosophy of Natural Motion, ECCO set up a new segmentation. With this new segmentation of runners by running speed, the shoe is revolutionary in more ways than one. Customers will be able to choose a shoe that is specified to their needs by taking into account training level, runner type and speed. BIOM A is for professional to semi-professional runners and BIOM B is suitable for fitness runners (both versions are already available). BIOM C is made for the occasional runners and BIOM Walk is for the Nordic walkers and Outdoor enthusiasts (both available in spring/summer 2010). BIOM will be offered in two different materials, a YAK leather (200 €) and a mesh/textile version (180 €).
